When ITV wanted a clear view of the Tyne estuary for some on location filming recently they turned to the UK’s number 1 double glazing replacement company.
‘It has to be one of the strangest calls I’ve ever had’, comments Newcastle branch manager Tony Telford. ‘It’s not every day you get a call from someone who needs a job doing because the failed double glazing is ruining a camera shot. However, it wasn’t a difficult job and I was pleased to be able to help out.’
The steamed up window was obscuring the superb background view which was needed for a scene in the series ‘Vera’ which is shooting now. Tony was tasked with replacing the Georgian Bar glass in the living room of the house. As you can see above, the old double glazing was completely obscuring the view.
‘As the old double glazing had Georgian Bar running through it it was very important to get the measurements exactly right so that the effect was uniform throughout’, explains Tony, ‘fortunately me and my lads are very experienced so the actual fitting was a doddle. The people from ITV Productions seemed to be pleased and once I’d changed the unit and cleaned it they got on with the filming straight away.’
As you can see from the pictures once Tony had completed the job the view was completely restored. We’re looking forward to seeing it on the next series of Vera when it is aired and if you want to know when that will be then visit www.itv.com.
