Cloudy2Clear Windows, the UK based window repair company, has added a new product range to help with a problem that always appears at this time of year – condensation on the inside of your windows. The company which specialises in saving householders a fortune by repairing windows which are steamed up, broken or damaged by replacing the panes – not the frames has added a new string to their bow with their new Insulating Glass.
Operations Manager Kirk Williams, explains why windows seem to attract moisture in the autumn and winter…
‘During the spring and summer many people have moisture in their houses but they just don’t realise it. When the temperature outside starts to fall at night then so does the temperature of the glass in your double glazing.
Once the glass is colder than the walls then water vapour condenses on it which is why you get windows which can be sopping wet in the morning. This can have a very damaging effect on frames, window sills and floors. I’ve seen people having to literally mop up pools of water every morning.’
So how does the new glass help? ‘With our new Insulating Double Glazed Unit the glass absorbs the heat in the house and keeps the glass at the same temperature as the walls. This reduces the amount of water vapour that collects on the glass which in turn reduces the amount of condensation. As we’re only replacing the double glazed unit the cost is minimal compared to replacing the whole frame.’
